Lesson Summary

In this lesson, you have created the project which in CSPro is called an application

1. Open CSPro and click Create a new application, then OK

The New Application window provides you with 4 choices for your new application

• Data Entry application if your objective is to key data from filled paper forms
• CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interview) Data entry application if your objective is to create a system for capturing data on mobile devices
• Batch Edit application if you would like to check your data and make edits
• Tabulation application if you would like to conduct basic analyses right in CSPro such as cross tabulations and descriptive statistics.
2. For this project, we will select to create a CAPI data entry application and click OK
3. On the New CAPI Data Entry Name window that appears, browse into the project folder you created earlier (Household Profiling Survey).
4. On file name type an appropriate name for the file and Click save

Now you have created the application file. CSpro expects you to create the input dictionary next or link to one if it already exists. The dictionary file contains the question items and their metadata. We will discuss these later.

5. Click the three dots to the right of where it says Input Dictionary. Type the same name as the project (Household Profiling Survey) and click OK
6. Click OK again. It will ask you to create a file because it does not exist. Select Yes!
