The case study
Throughout the course, we will utilize a fictional project as the foundation for constructing our real-time Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) dashboard. Here is the project overview:
As an M&E manager, you are responsible for overseeing the implementation of a Sexual Reproductive Health Services project across three districts in Malawi. The project involves establishing mobile sexual reproductive health clinics using vans that travel throughout the three districts.
These mobile clinics will primarily offer three services to young people: condom distribution, HIV counseling and testing, and voluntary medical male circumcision. The ultimate goal of the project is to reduce the number of new HIV cases among young people.
To effectively track the project's progress, specifically the number of young people accessing the services, you need a reliable method. Additionally, as multiple vans will be operating across the districts, it is crucial to monitor the results of the activities in real time and communicate them to various stakeholders efficiently.
To achieve this, you will:
- Develop a reporting form using KoboToolbox, which will be loaded onto mobile devices. After each clinic session, field officers will input data about the clinic's outcomes and submit it to the KoboToolbox server.
- Connect the reporting form to PowerBI and create a dashboard report that summarizes the progress made in the field. This dashboard will be capable of pulling new data from the KoboToolbox project on a daily basis.
- Share the dashboard with different stakeholders involved in the project, ensuring that everyone stays informed and updated on the project's status.
